Back in Action

THE STORY: Roddy Piper and Billy Blanks team up again in this movie. There's just something inherently cool about Piper. Blanks, while no actor, fills the his action scenes with enough testorone to make me forget that. Ok, its no classic, but I love action movies!

During an undercover drug bust Frank Rossi (Piper) witnesses the murder of his partner by Chakka, a drug dealer. During this bust, which turns into a firefight, ex-special forces soldier, Billy (Blanks) rescues his sister, who is Chakka's girlfriend. Tara, the sister doesn't want to be rescued, but Billy takes her anyway. The drug gang, led by Kasajian, is convinced that Tara must have ratted them out. They put a hit on her. One of the members of the drug gang comes to kill Tara but instead hides out with her...they discover they're in love. But once Tara goes missing, Billy thinks Kasajian and his goons have kidnapped her and goes on a rampage attacking Kasajian's businesses and employees. He pretty much kills a lot of them with karate. Rossi runs into Billy several times but looks the other way because he wants Chakka's ass for the death of his partner. Rossi's girlfriend, a reporter wants the big story and finds out where Tara is hiding. Once Kasajian sees her newscast he sends Chakka after herbecause she knows where Tara is. Chakka captures Tara, but Rossi and Billy find out that they're holding Helen and Tara on a ship and go there. After the typical "good guys get captured but break free" sequence, Billy goes on another rampage bustin' caps in a lot of drug dealing asses. Rossi has a fight to the finish with Chakka. With a ship full of dead crooks our heroes emerge victorious.

Ok, that was short...but you can fill in the blanks easily since its mostly scenes of Billy kicking ass and Rossi arguing with his boss. What'd you expect...its an action movie with Roddy Piper and Billy Blanks. There's not going to be a lot of plot...just a lot of ass kicking.

BEST LINES: "I hate that karate shit!"Rossi to Blanks when they first meet. They have to have their obligatory buddies-meet-but-at-first-try-to- kick-each-others-ass scene!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?:

1.) When Billy gets Tara home after he first rescues her, he steps into another room to change. She's gone when he comes out. What did he expect? I knew she'd split the minute he turned his back.

2.) So, Tara instantly falls in love with another criminal. She's not only a moron, she's a slut as well. Tara isn't very smart and she's as useful as a seven dollar bill. If I were Billy I'd write her off. I might go through one gun fight with an army of drug dealers for my sister, but twice.....she's on her own.

3.)Whoa! Roddy puts a wrestling slam on Chakka by mid-movie! Cool!

4.) One guy misses shooting Billy in the back with a shotgun from about seven feet away. I found that hard to believe. Yeah, that happens in movies, but really, he was too close to miss. Stevie Wonder could have shot him from that distance!

NUDITY AND SEX: None

HUH?: Didn't Helen think that Kasajian would come after her after she interviews Tara on TV? Rossi pretty much told her to stay out of it because of the danger! But it doesn't take a brain surgeon to realize that the crooks are going to come after her....I can't believe she would be that stupid.

THE TALLY: This movie is only for Roddy Piper/ Billy Blanks fans, or fans of movies with lots of fight scenes. Its non-stop fights all the way through. Personally I like this movie. I think Piper and Blanks should make more direct-to-video action-buddy flicks. If you like this kind of movie you'll probably like Tough and Deadly with these two guys in it.
