DARK ANGEL: THE ASCENT
THE STORY: This was one weird movie...I'm not sure where it was made, but I think its Italian. (even though the dialogue is English.)
Deep in the depths of hell, Veronica, a young demoness, yearns to visit the world of man. Her parents are against it, but Veronica finds a secret passage and emerges from Hades with her dog, Hellraiser. Disguised as a human, she is injured and taken to a hospital. She meets Max Barris, a young doctor and begins living with him. At night Veronica hunts down evildoers and kills them, feeding parts of their bodies to her dog. Finally she tells Max the truth about herself, and despite the fact that she's a spawn of darkness he falls in love with her.When she is shot and near death an angel comes to take her back to hell to be healed. Lonely and sad, Max misses her until she returns. (I toldja this was weird.)
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?:
1.) Veronica and her parents sit down to dinner (which seems to be roasted body parts of the damned) and say grace...What? Demons say grace!?
2.) While Veronica is sleeping in the hospital, Max tries to listen to her heartbeat with his stethoscope and hears the screams of the damned. He kind of shrugs and leaves it at that. Talk about ice water in his veins!
3.) Max is not observant for a doctor. Veronica feeds Hellraiser a human heart and he doesn't recognize it even though he's staring right at it!
NUDITY AND SEX: When Veronica first comes to earth, she's nude. She also has sex with Max.
HUH?: Well, I thought that Demon's saying grace was kind of strange, but in one scene Veronica's mom prays to a really big cross in their home!
While making love to Max Veronica transforms into her true self (which is basically just herself with bat wings, long nails and horns) but Max doesn't seem to mind. He just keeps a' goin'!Listen, I've dated girls that could be classified as hellspawns, but if one of 'em turns into a devil while in the middle of sinning, I'd hie me to the nearest church!

THE TALLY: For some reason I enjoyed this movie. It could have used a little more action....Veronica didn't slay enough people in my opinion. She was supposed to be killing evil doers and I think she could have found a few more. But it was weird enough to keep my attention.
