SINBAD AND THE EYE OF THE TIGER
THE STORY: I remember seeing this movie in a theater as a kid. Dr. Who fans will note that it has Patrick Troughton (The 2nd doctor). it also has a very young Jane Seymour in it (Jane is still hot even today though)
Well, its a pretty basic plot....Sinbad and his crew must help Princess Farah (Seymour) and her brother Kassim. The evil witch Zenobia has transformed Kassim into a baboon before he can be crowned King or Kalif or something. He must be crowned within '7 moons' or he can never be ruler, and Zenobia wants that title for her son. Sinbad takes Farah and the baboon-Kassim to find the wise man Melanthius (Troughton) who joins them on a quest to the top of the world to find a magic beam of light that can turn Kassim back to a human. Zenobia and her son are in hot pursuit. after fighting several stop motion monsters, Sinbad and his comrades triumph and Kassim is crowned as the credits roll.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?:
1.) While chasing Sinbad and crew through the 7 seas, Zenobia uses her magic potion to transform into a bird and then into a 6 inch human aboard Sinbad's ship. she gets caught however, and Melanthius tries to force her to give up the magic secret. He finds her locket that contains the potion, but since Zenobia won't cooperate he decides to feed it to a bee that he has in a jar. Ok, now, lets think about this...Melanthius tells Zenobia that the bee can kill a normal sized person with one sting so why feed it the potion? What does he expect to learn? He knows its a magic potion! Instantly the bee grows to 'Food of the gods' proportions. Dummy. Zenobia at this point was 6 inches tall and in his power. I think I could have made her talk without turning a bee into a giant monster.
2.) Zenobia creates a bronze giant minatuar called Minoton. Minoton is what powers her boat while she chases Sinbad, by rowing. At the top of the world Minoton is destroyed and Zenobia tells her son "His work is done!" What? Your boat has no sails! How are you going to get home without him rowing?
NUDITY AND SEX: For a split second you can see a nude Jane Seymour bathing! Rowr!
HUH?: In order to get into the secret pyramid Zenobia orders the Minoton to pull a block free and lo and behold behind it...a passageway! Considering that there wasn't supposed to be an entrance there, why was there a passage?
The heroes meet a giant horned caveman that Melanthius calls a troglodyte, an ancestor of man. Yeah, well, I thought Troglodytes were from H.G. Wells The Time Machine.
THE TALLY: Like all the old stop motion Sinbad movies, this one is a hoot. Its got big ass monsters, Patrick Troughton, Jane Seymour and warped mythology! Great flick for cheesey fun!
