Jet Jaguar

No rant this time. I just wanted to introduce Jet Jaguar. He's six months old.

Shortly after moving in to my new place before my wife or other cats got here, I found him wandering through my yard. He's really trusting. He actually came up to me when I said "Here Kitty, Kitty." He was pretty skinny and had no collar so I took him into the kitchen and gave him a piece of leftover chicken. He scarfed it down so I knew he was starving. I asked my neighbor if they knew who owned him.

Turns out the people down the street did. I took him home and asked the lady why she was letting her cat roam freely outside. First, its not safe for the cat, second, its illegal on post. If the MP's find him they will take him to the post Vet and the post vet WILL put any stray animal to sleep. The lady told me that she found a tick on her small son and thought it may have come from the cats so she won't let him into the house. They also had a large dog and another cat....Jet's brother. He looks almost identical to Jet. By the way, his name then was "Stinky". The brother, is "Sleepy". ( Real imaginative folks, huh)

The next night I went for a walk. When I got home, here was Jet on my step mewling. I let him in, borrowed my neighbor's truck, went to the PX got some cat food, a litter box and cat shampoo and came back. I fed him, then went to sleep. In the morning I gave him a flea bath. I wondered why his owners didn't just do that themselves if they thought he was infested. I went to take him home again, but no one was there so I left a note. Later that evening I noticed they were in so I walked over to tell them I had their cat again. The husband answered this time. He pretty much doesn't like cats and he and his wife are separating so the animals have to go anyway. Basically, he told me to keep the "damned cat."

So I did. Oh, its been rough going. I see Sleepy running around at night outside but I can't take him in too. Only 3 pets per household on post and I still have Stache and Banshee. And Jet wants to get out badly because he hasn't been fixed yet. So the first weeks of just me and him and no furniture were torture. I was overwhelmed with loneliness, some personal problems and the fact that I was sleeping on a floor. But it was nice to have Jet for company. He drove me insane at night with his crying to get out, but he also curled up with me on the floor and purred when I slept.

now that Mrs. Dante and the two monsters are here, Jet has made it a personal quest to "get some". Only Stache and Banshee have been fixed and don't want to get it on. Stache has pretty much made her position as the "Boss Cat" known. She kicked his ass one night so Jet now shows her proper respect. But poor Banshee...she's terrified of him. Ill have to get him fixed soon so maybe Banshee will calm down. To Jet's credit, he's actually just tried to be nice to the other cats after the initial "Me Tarzan" thing....and he and Stache at least tolerate each other. Banshee is warming up to him, but won't go near him unless someone else is in the room. And Jet is the only one of the cats we have to wear a nametag...because every so often he tries to get outside.

He's done so twice in the last week. One night I had to chase him for a half hour up and down the street because his brother was with him. I had to catch them both because they look similar. It was easy to tell Jet from Sleepy when I grabbed both of them though. Sleepy isn't used to me and fought to get free, but Jet was happy to go back into the warm house. And Jet's paws are white and Sleepy's aren't. I feel bad for Sleepy...hope he finds a good home.

Well, that's the tale. and that's my cat....Jet Jaguar.
